About Pilates

  • Both men and women have Pelvic Floor muscles which are “fundamental for optimal bladder, bowel and sexual function.” – Sammy Margo, spokesperson for the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
  • The Journal of Occupational Health, June 2009: “Large numbers of men and women are putting themselves at risk of unnecessary incontinence and sexual frustration because of ignorance and neglect of their pelvic floor muscles, physiotherapists have warned.”
  • Pilates will help you develop and maintain a leaner, stronger body and create a general feeling of well-being. 
  • Pilates can help to alleviate much of the pain of back ache caused by poor posture, injury or repetitive actions at home or work.
  • Specialist Pilates Instructor Mara Kirk-Reynolds teaches a Drop-in classes where you pay on the day – no need to book.  She also teaches one-to-one private classes at her home.
  • Men and women of all ages, ability and fitness levels, can be accommodated in Mara’s classes.
  • Pregnant women and Post-Natal women are welcome – exercises are adapted accordingly.
  • Daytime class is held in Bath on Wednesdays.
  • Recommendations for Mara’s classes have been made by professionals in Medicine, Physiotherapy, Chiropractic, Nursing and Midwifery.
